Southern Tier - encaustic - 30”x40” - commission

I am available for commissions. My genre tends to be the simplified landscape with a mix between representation and abstracted suggestion. I enjoy developing what I call “color worlds” that create a desired mood in a painting.

Winter Wax - encaustic with pastel - sold

The reference to a grid is often found in my art. This painting alludes to this underlying structure in my attempt to speak about the water landscape both above and below the ground.

Ace of Cups - encaustic - 12” x 40” - Sold

One of my favorite subjects is the empty vessel. One might think there is a a sadness to the word empty, but I have learned over the years that an empty state is like a blank slate - full of potential.

Transitions - encaustic - 12” x 40”

The idea that all is needed to suggest a landscape is a horizontal lines fascinates me. It speaks to how we are hard wired in the way we see the world. If you move (or down ) looking at two, three or four bands of color, you will see the ever changing landscape.

Architectural Quilt - encaustic - 40” x 60” - sold

My attraction to quilts and the visuals of stacked up buildings in any downtown USA found it way into this painting.

Light Patterns - encaustic - 12” x 12”

Years ago I painted a scene similar to this with broken brush stroke. to be honest, I’m not sure it is done, but wanted to show it as a precursor to what may evolve.

Are We All Connected - encaustic - 9” x 9”

In all seriousness, this is something that just happened intuitively. A very different palette for me, nonetheless, I am enjoying it.

Out of Chaos - encaustic - 30” x 40”

Truly I hope that there will ultimately be more light as we move forward.

After the Storm - encaustic - 24” x 36” on cradled wood - $800

All I have to say about this painting is that it came out quick. I have painted this scene multiple times and it all culminated in finally being able to express the essence of the last few rain drops as the strong wind blows across the meadow on a very warm late August day.

Rhythms of the Land - pastel - $450

I am deeply drawn to the lay of the land here in western NY. I revisit this landscape often, especially when I need to get centered in my practice.

Along the Canal - pastel - $350

Walking the Erie Canal path is such a privilege. It is safe, clean and scenic. I get to relax and feel into the atmosphere.

Linwood - pastel - $450

One of my all time favorite places to visit, to teach and to go for inspiration is Linwood Gardens in Linwood, NY. Have a look at their website and you will know why www.linwoodgardens.org

Orange Fields - pastel - $450

I find that a row of trees in the background seems to find its way in many of my paintings. I think it have to do with the row of trees that separated my grandfather’s farm from the neighbors farm. somehow that divide serves an anchor.

A Change in Seasons - encaustic on cradled wood - 24 x 36 - $800

Yes, a revisit of a favorite meadow. The Finger Lakes region is full of rolling hills and meadows formed by glaciers. It is hard to find a place that isn’t worth stopping. As an artist, the area is full of enticing vistas, but it is more than that. there is something in the air here that resonates a certain excitement within.
